Ch. Fontana at 13 Rue Royale, Paris, was a prestigious 19th-century luxury boutique famous for high-end leather goods, travel trunks, and dressing cases (nécessaires de voyage). Located in the heart of Paris’s premier shopping district, the firm catered to royalty, aristocrats, and wealthy international travelers during the golden age of luxury travel.The house was celebrated for its exceptional craftsmanship, using fine materials like morocco leather, tortoiseshell, ivory, and silver. Fontana specialized in creating highly organized, custom-fitted cases that allowed elite clients to travel with their toiletries and writing materials in absolute style.By the late 1800s, Ch. Fontana expanded its reach, winning awards at international exhibitions and establishing a second location in Nice to serve wintering aristocrats on the Riviera. Around the turn of the century, the landmark 13 Rue Royale address was taken over by another legendary name in luxury: Cartier. Today, the Fontana name remains highly collectible among antique enthusiasts for embodying the peak of Belle Époque Parisian elegance.
