Andrew Clunn
Born in England, Andrew Clunn (1928–2016) imigrated to the United States and built a legendary career in high jewellery. In 1963, he began an apprenticeship at the iconic New York jewellery house, David Webb. Clunn rapidly advanced through various roles to become Webb’s trusted right-hand man and sales manager. During this time, he personally catered to a glittering, elite clientele, including Elizabeth Taylor, Diana Vreeland, and Wallis, Duchess of Windsor. Following Webb's death in 1975 and a brief tenure managing a London jeweller, Clunn returned to Manhattan. In 1980, he launched his eponymous atelier, Andrew Clunn Ltd., on Madison Avenue. As a private jeweller, Clunn became highly sought after for his distinctive, bold, and sculptural aesthetics—deeply influenced by Webb's design language. He specialized in custom statement necklaces, cocktail rings, and hammered gold pieces crafted with rare gemstones, fine diamonds, and rich textures. His company operated successfully for over three decades before closing in 2013. Today, Clunn's rare creations remain highly prized by elite collectors at major auction houses.
